The City of Yellowknife said it doesn’t appear any personal information was compromised during a cybersecurity incident last week.

The City of Yellowknife reported a cybersecurity incident that affected access to internal systems and municipal online services starting September 15, 2025.

One week after the incident's discovery, the city's network has been restored and the majority of its online services have resumed operation.

Patrons can now make payments by debit and credit cards at city facilities, use library computers, and borrow more than five items from the library.

Some services are still being restored, including CityExplorer, an interactive map portal.

Click and Fix YK, a tool for submitting non-emergency city issues, remains offline. In the meantime, residents are advised to email non-emergency issues to CustomerService@yellowknife.ca.

A third-party investigation took place during the incident, and while it was ongoing, access to certain services and programs was limited.

The city currently believes no personal information was compromised but has pledged to contact individuals directly if that assessment changes.
